How to evaluate school bus tracking software
A useful evaluation reproduces the actual workflow and its failure conditions. A polished map alone is not enough.

Test the complete trip
- Create representative routes, stops, vehicle, driver, student, and guardian assignments.
- Start an assigned trip and confirm which device publishes location.
- Check what authorized school and parent users see when updates arrive, stop, or become stale.
- Complete the trip and confirm what history remains available.
Ask for prerequisites and limits
- Which features require map, notification, email, or routing-provider credentials?
- What happens when a phone loses network access or location permission?
- Is the mobile app publicly distributed or available only to a controlled pilot?
- Which claims are supported by tests, customer evidence, or an SLA?
Review access and records
Use accounts for each intended role and confirm they can access only the relevant school and student information. Review how trips, attendance, and incidents are recorded and corrected.
